CHILD REPRESENTATION

When there are disputes pertaining to parenting time and decision-making for children, the Courts routinely appoint a Guardian Ad Litem or Child Representative to investigate and assist the Court in determining what is in the child’s best interests.   

Guardian Ad Litem 

Through a guardian ad litem (GAL) an objective, impartial person is appointed by the court to investigate what solutions are in the best interests of a child. GALs have different methods for conducting investigations, but we can help you prepare to share significant details of your own and your soon-to-be ex’s relationship with the children. Maria Barreiro has been approved to serve as a GAL in DuPage County to ensure that appropriate parenting time and division of parental responsibilities is given for the best possible outcome for the child.
