Barreiro Law was founded in 2011 and has served hundreds of clients with family law matters, working across the counties of Cook, DuPage and Will. Since our inception we bring value to our clients in helping individuals protect their interests while their family dynamics change. We believe we can give individuals the tools to move forward in their new lives and changing family structures.
Maria has always been inspired and interested in how family dynamics change and can evolve into something new. She is passionate in helping people overcome what will likely be one of the most difficult experiences of their lives.
Admitted to the Illinois Bar Association in 2008, Maria has worked with clients that range from corporate executives to musicians, to stay-at-home mothers. She is also a member of the General Assembly, Illinois State Bar Association, Puerto Rican Bar Association and DuPage County Bar Association.
When not helping clients Maria finds ways to give back to the community. In law school, she received the Norman Lefstein Award of Excellence for her contributed pro bono (free) legal services. She serves as the Director of Membership Engagement at Prospanica Chicago, is a member of the Child Law Section Council and General Assembly at the Illinois Bar Association, and a board member for the Greenlight Family Services. Maria has served as a mentor for grade school and high school students at Erie Neighborhood House and currently volunteers as an attorney through the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services.
